Heading up to stay at Bowen Town during the school holidays. Where should I head out? I've never fished this area before - closest I would have been are Ohope or Opito... and that's clearly not particularly close. Softbaiting and lure fishing is my thing.

Thanks for any intel.

Scooter, best end North, of beach, straight off surf club in around the 8/10m mark. Few Gurn's around at the mo. Keep away from the entrance /bar area. Anzac bay looks the part but when tide runs very strong currents. Wind needs to be from a western quarter not North or East unless it is 5 /10 or so variable.

Cheers for that. I guess there are options to drive back over to the Thames side or further North if the wind is not playing ball - it's a couple hours away isn't it?

From Bowentown to Waiomu, approx 1/25mins
Thames side Waiomu fishing not to bad. Kereta another 15 mins always worth a look, not far to Mussel farms or another 10mins further Wilson's bay. If you go to 'camp and tackle " website /facebook ,Blue has a forcast for conditions at Waiomu most days.
