Headed out from Harrison's around 08:00, it seemed like I had the bay of plenty to myself, just me and a couple of Shearwaters.
The 20kt winds were forceast to tail off after 09:00. SSW (cross/off) made the paddle out easy enough, the chop was a bit of a tho.
Fished for an hour and only had a couple of gentle bites. Spotted a couple of workups but they were a few hundred meters away so decided not to try and chase them.
Chop and wind made it very difficult to know if you were on the bottom and I had a couple of waves break over the yak.
A reminder of what a stable fishing platform the PF400 is and how essential a good chute is.
Around 09:30 with wind began to tail off.
I was able to stay in contact with the line at last and picked up a decent snap (42cm) and then a pair of identical twin trevors (49 cm), great fun.
Pulled in the chute and tossed out a lure for the paddle home, bloody hard work against the wind and no interest in the lure.
Go on then, tell us your stories...
