Hi,

I am currently looking into buying a fishing kayak. I live in Nelson so generally need to paddle out a bit to find water deep enough to fish although the water is generally pretty calm. I have been looking at the profish 35 but I can't find any reviews about it anywhere! Does anyone have some good info about this kayak?

I would also love to get the profish 400, it stretches the budget a little bit but may be able to sneak it past the wife it is worth the extra money.

Thoughts and opinions would be appreciated!

The 35 is pretty new so it will be hard to find a review or 2nd hand one for sale. I would go for something over 4m if you are doing more than a couple of kms offshore.

I found the Viking 400 a good kayak for fishing around Nelson. A bit slow throguh the water though. One criticms of boththe 35 and the 400 is neither of them allow storing a kayak cart up the front.

I looked at the 35 a while back as second boat. The lure bin rod storage at front is to avoid having rods in the vertical holders catching on overhanging branches when creeping through Aussie mangrove estuaries. Suggests it was not designed for offshore work .
I think the 400 would be more suited for what you want .

Yeah my concern is that it has been designed for fishing in aussie. However, I think the new models have replaced the front lure wells to a closed front. I am just hoping that someone as a winter sale so I can afford the profish 400!
