Beautiful morning at Sullivans Bay on Saturday. Although I guess everywhere was good with weather like we had.
First four casts resulted in 4 snapper, although only one of them was big enough to put in the bin at 32cm. Managed another 2 within the next 30 mins going approx 40cm and 50cm. Then the slack tide happened at about 9.15am and it was slow for a long while for me. Got another at about 40cm some time later and by about 1pm called it quits with 4 in the bin and places to be.
Not quite the same as the summer fishing there!
As a side note, went out across the Manukau bar on a boat 10/06 (had never been out over the bar before) and we ended with 10 good size snapper between about 35cm and 69cm, plus 4 gurnard, and about 5 or 6 Kahawai. Also threw back about a dozen sharks. Moved from 15m to 35m and had a 20 minute window where we basically caught all the snapper. So overall it was a good new experience but I'm told was reasonably slow going by West Coast standards.
Go on then, tell us your stories...
