I know saturday would prob be nicer, but Sunday is all I got, so Im heading out. At this stage the forecast is average, but it's changed to light winds (NE) with increasing cloud. Keen to head south to Opunake area, anyone else have the same plan?

Tara Yakka,
I would love to join you but I'm not set up for fishing in the cold; so I am leaving my yak in the garage rather than risking the chance (and resulting effects) of the dredded turtle.
Feel free to drop me a line in a couple of months ... I'll be more than keen then. In the mean time I'll be spending some quality time with my surfcasters.

Hi TaraYakka,
What time are you thinking of heading out? There's an outside chance I might be able to come along but i have lots of chores to do first!
So long as you don't launch from that boat ramp with "locals only" scrawled in blood on the wall!

Easterly 25 knots easing to 15 knots in the morning, and becoming variable 10 knots Sunday afternoon. Rough sea easing. Southwest swell in the west, 1 metre. Fair visibility in showers, clearing tonight
With this forecast stu, I'll be heading out at day break (from Ahuahu Rd) and going deep. I'll be out all day too by the sounds... Gonna be mint!
What ramp is that one? cant say that I've noticed it, anyways sounds like some small pricked surfer that has nothing better to do when the waves are big

You're right, it does sound mint! I definitely can't get out in the morning, and the afternoon is still only a maybe, so I'll have to wish you good luck, and maybe catch up another day! Leave one or two fish in the sea for me if you can.

How did you get on Tara Yakka
Went down that way to see my son over the weekend ,looked nice out there on Sat.
My boy is moving from Mania up to Rahotu.
Had a look around on Sat you guys have some awesome launch spots .
Went down to the beach at Rahotu ,bit of a walk down a sandy track but looked ok.
Opunake has a good ramp in a sheltered bay,
Even down at Kaupokonui looks ok to go from .
I think I will be bringing the kayak down for the next visit.

Came back with a very nasty virus. Ended up spending 4 days at home lying about on the couch.
It was a slow day with LOTS of just legal Blue cod which ended back in the water for another day. Kept one daddy, a kahawai and a coutta for bait. Had a great fight with a large ray (which it only just won), and a couple of shorter ones with sharks.
