Hi all,

Fairly new to this kayak fishing experience and definitely getting inspired by stories/reports this forum has shared hence why i joined 😀.

Launched out from waitawa last Saturday, as I’ve been there before for a beach trip and seen a guy haul in a decent amount of fish all good sizes Well over the 30cm mark, long story short my first time out wasn’t successful but i got to get a taste of what to expect, while kayak fishing, still buzzing from my first time out I’ve decided to try launching from Kawakawa bay, reading some reports this seems to be an ideal spot.

Appreciate any advice

Just be carefully Orere, that area can go from dead flat to a meter high meter apart in no time, you can hear it coming at times

Your absolutely right there mate i went out this morning for a fishing expedition only to arrive a Orere Point where the waves weren’t looking too friendly for a novice kayaker, like you said waves were well over a metre!! :headbang: which set my plans ten steps back..

So I decided to head back to waitawa where conditions were completely opposite, managed to fish for a bit, plenty of bites but none landing in my Yak, i was using Berkley 5in Grey Sapphire problem with these they easily rip and won’t last one or two bites, not sure if anyone has had the same issue.??

Anyways looking forward to another trip when conditions are perfect

Keep them advices coming

Get a lot of little stuff around there, not as much current as Orere
