Thanks to Fletcher, finally got some decent fishing done this Easter.

Decided to check out Pakiri with Andrew, never been there before. Met him at 6:30 in the car park, and checked out the surf before going in. This would be my first surf beach experience. Big surfs and seeing all the board surfers around I knew I am going to loose my virginity today  . Anyway, launching through surf was ok, paddled through some really big surfs.

Fishing was hot and they were on the bite. For about 2 hours fish after fish. Plenty of Kahawai around. Managed a PB KY 50 cm and then came a double snapper hook up. It was fun reeling in two rods simultaneously. Then came a bang, very hard bite. 10 minutes fight and came up a 65cm 10 lb snapper my second PB for the day. Few more pannies and few KY released. Kept 6 snappers and one KY. The bite stopped at about 10 am and we decided to paddle back despite the wind and surf.

First went Fletcher, and it was like Moses crossing the red sea. All the waves cleared for an easy and neat landing. Then I started to paddle in. Few big surfs passed by and I saw an opportunity. Unfortunately another bog one got me turtled. No regrets, will go to fish there again even if I turtle again. :inlove:

Everyone is a genius.

But if you judge a fish
on its ability to climb a tree.
it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.

Nothing lost or broken. Watching the monster surfs before landing we decided to prepare for a turtle. Andrew helped to put my rod tips in the front hatch and his rods tied in front of him. I should have asked him to put the reels and FF inside too, although they should be ok. :^)

I should have also mentioned how good the new k-lab rods were handling the bigger specimen.
Lots of fun and action on those stiff rods, hook setting power is amazing. Well done K-Lab
