New PB, 17lb snapper on a Dr Evil trolling lure round the back of the island, followed by an epic 16kph surf on the big swells coming back through the gap between the islands...
Amazing visibility closer in to Matouri, 8.5 metres of water beneath me and I could easily see the 20cm snapper swimming up to and taking my orange slider! Could also see the bigger fish studiously ignoring it!

What an awesome way to get your PB. Well done! I catch a lot of snapper on those Dr Evils, but nothing bigger than about 6lb so far.

I was astonished that a snapper that size would actively chase a lure, I was peddling at 5-6kph at the time, so it had to move a bit!

That’s good going when dragging what is effectively a sea anchor behind you! Go pedal power.
