Decided to take my owner for a fish today but we weren't the only Viking on the water ( Viking Orion).
Launched at 0515 whilst Barry was playing around with his rod and Luke still catching 40 winks.
Headed out to the green bouy and dropped slider to see what was around, no fish but Luke and Barry go paddling by nattering like a couple of old hens.
Decided to meet up with them and drift the out going tide, slow going all morning but ended up with 4, Luke got 5 and Barry 4. Barry's catching more fish in Auckland than he does in the Coromandel.

Great morning on the water 8).

Being Mayor I really need my sleep, it's a pretty strenuous job, coupled with the fact both my boys and my wife have been sick over the holidays.

Some fresh fish will speed up their recovery.

Merry Christmas all

Fished NN this morning
Learned how to fish softbait the whole session, a big first for me, prefer sliders, not now. Coconut ice curly tails did the deeds
Took me 4hrs for my first keeper & another 2.5hrs for the 4 others, 33 - 45, missed some good runs, heaps of throw backs
Lots of kahawai working the surface close by, they avoided me, then the westerly picked up with the incoming, drift around 1.2 - 1.6kt
I`ll be back
