Decided to head out on Saturday at Whangaporoa, early start left home at 0510, stopping at BP for coffee on way through.
Forecast wasn't great but after 2 weeks of not fishing my gills were starting to dry out.
Meet Baz at the beach and off we set, nice paddle until we rounded the point and water started getting sloppy.
After 20 minutes reached a promising area and started dropping lines, Baz extra keen as he had picked up his first kingi here the week before.
First fish on was a Johnny which is a first for me, nice size and good eating. Things went slow for a while and was thinking of heading home when on jumped a snap, managed to loose 3 trace due to rocky bottom but went home happy. Back at the beach by 10am.

Better than me at NN Satirday morning. Tried it for the first time and after 5 hours only had one pannie (caught in first 30mins) snap to show for it lol beautiful day out but yeah covered a lot of ground recovering from fast tidal drift. Nice Johnny!

NN is a good summer spot but during winter it's nice to go and check out new ground.
