I'm going to be a lazy bugger this time round and let the video do the TR for me. Had a fantastic time and nursed a big hangover on the Sunday morning. If you haven't been to the Whakatane Sports Fishing Club do make a visit. The collection of trophies and records held by the members at that club are amazing. A family friendly environment and great hospitality I will be back next year.

The following video is a quick summary of the action. Enjoy!

Far out who is that dude in the orange shirt ? He is so handsome :D
Love the YESSS! when you netted that snapper, nothing like a comp to make it that much more important to get a goodie.
Awesome to meet you and be totally outfished by you lol. Your vid is great, mine not so much...
You inspired me to get into micro jigging after been a one dimensional softbaiter for 5 years.

Thanks guys. I wasn't entirely focused on filming during the competition but had something marginal to put together.

Yep definitely good to put names to faces and share a few stories, tips and tricks, beers and laughs.

Great to hangout Piwikiwi, I will be entering next year :y: . I get fully equipped with my tackle arsenal when I go to new spots. I think I tallied 800km on the odometer, so to get some fish and prizes paid off. I'll try not to remind you of how I outfished you at Omaio.

Omaio still produced most of the winning snapper even though nothing huge this year.

I will likely fish Rogers next year seeing as its more my local and I can get a good nights sleep at home.
Already got 2 micro jigs to try out :y:

Choice vid mate be one of my favorite spots to fish. Was so very tempted to go there that Saturday but the news of a trawler working the area the day before put me off
