well the time had come Lee's new viking reload was ready.

It was friday afternoon with the Bow downs fastened to the racks I was off on the hour drive from hamilton to the Viking factory in Matamata to pick it up for him. Arriving around 1:30pm I was greeted by Stephen and a brand new black and green reload.
45 mins later it was loaded up on the car and ready for the trip up to Auckland to meet the rest of the Fishing Addicts team Brad and Andrew from Viking Fishing Addicts.

After a quick stop at home to pack the rest on my gear and load up my kayak I was off. Arriving around 6pm at Brads work The Kayaks were unloaded and ready for the next step. Fitting our new Lowrance Elite 7 with Chirp ff and a bunch of Railblaza gear Yeah boy!!!
With a bit of banter between the boys hours passed by and the kayaks were ready to hit the water so back on the roof they went and it was off to Lee's place for the night with the plan of heading out for a fish in the morning at leigh reef.

After we had all our rods sorted it was 12:30am and we need to be up early 3:30 to be exact :worried: so with a couple hours sleep we were up and ready to fish.
we arrived at Leigh around 5am and meet by paul who was going to be fishing with us.
The water was like glass and with the sun comming up making for a perfect picture, we pladdled out to the reef with not much sign on the sounders and nothing wanting to take our offerings we spotted some birds in the distance so headed for them but with no luck there it was time for a new game plan.

The call was made to head out wide and try and find the snapper. Arriving at the 50m mark to a 1m swell and still no fish  the only exitment for the morning was seeing a shark estimated at around 3m pass by my kayak, gutted I didnt see it coming otherwise the gopro would have been in the water.

The rest of the day was real slow with only 2 fish caught (Some funny looking red mullet) then Lee and I decided to try in close and try our luck there which paid off.. Lee pulled up a nice 15lb snapper  but that was to be it for the day.

All up we had an awesome day on the water with some great weather and fun times.

Everyone is a genius.

But if you judge a fish
on its ability to climb a tree.
it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.
