Hello Kayakmaker

Is there a possibilit that the Ultra series will be continued into a small version?

Something around the 12 foot mark?

25Kegs would be still fine, but that 12 foot job would be sweet.

Here we go, two photos of the plug, this is what is used to start the mold making process.

Actually quite like the battle ship grey

and YAY rear flag mounts at last

Questions though... Is this boat getting a different rudder, at first glance that ruder mount looks different to the Ultra 4.7..? and no rod holders behind the seat..?

The 4.3 will use the ocean kayak rudder.
the styling at the end is different but the dimensions are basically the same.

This is the plug.
From this a sand cast pattern will be made. (this is an inverse of the plug).

The center hatch details will be added straight into the pattern.

The rear holders will be formed from removable drop in cores in the mould.
These will be added in the final fit out stage of the mould.

All threads, inserts and some of the final details will be added at the final fit out stage.

At this stage we are not planning to make an ultra 4.0.
However and as with any kayak or related item, if we get enough public demand for an item we will look into the feasibility of production.

G'day from WA.

Have been following this since hearing mention of it a month or two back. She's looking like a beautiful boat, and as someone who is still saving up for their first 'yak, I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of the U4.3. For well over a year I've been in love with the Prowlers, not to mention yearning for one, and if this one reaches the AU market by the time I have the money, well, time will tell ;)

Can you give us a run down on the process on the actual making of the mould and the planning and materials are used at each step of the planning process

I am trying to work out from the pictures if it foam or some thing else...

Cheers Armie

Will Do,
It will take a bit of explaining,
I am right in the middle of sorting out march's production. It will tie me up today and tomorrow.

I will do it later in the week on a separate post.
I will also post a report on the beach to Boat.

Looks like a Mission + New Model Prowler on Steroids.... bit of an overkill with all the clip ons though... seat needs to be re-defined to suit the operating range one would expect of this

Hi guys,
Here is an update on the 4.3 progress

The mould was cast on Friday gone,
The long process of finishing and pollishing the casting has started.
All the parts required for finishing the 4.3 have been ordered.

We are ontrack for the launch at the boat show and the 1st production run.

Cheers
