I am looking for a overhead jigging rod to pair with my Okuma 5NS.

What's the deal with length? I see they can vary from about 5ft to over 6ft.
Any advantages to either? Aiming for about a 200g rated rod.

i would say personal preference for length. i prefer a short rod (5 to 6 ft) for most of my fishing but my light rods (less than 3kg) i prefer a longer rod (7ft Plus). but probably more to the point would be rod action. fast or slow etc etc

I use 2 x 6.6' with okuma komodos. Rated for 100-200g.

I find the longer rods give a better action when in the rod holders and the yaks rocking in the swell.

I fish with one in the holder and actively jigging the other. I get just as many hook ups in the holder.

The shorter rods are easier to deal with tangles etc and landing fish.

Thanks guys. I kind of have my longer rods sorted, but all lighter weight like you say. Perhaps I'll give something a bit shorter a go, to really give the little Andros a good work out on boat when winching in the big 'uns

I'd pair it with the Metaloid 200-350gm OH model, it's 5'0 and has a great action.
If jigging go short, far easier to work the jigs with.
I have been using that rod paired with an Andros 5ii and it's certainly done the business.
Sweet spot for me was jigs 250 gram to 300 gram.
It has a ton of power and lift, but also folds away nicely.
You're aware that while it affords one the momentary illusion of satisfaction, the spewing of bile is never a permanent solution.
