Hard to go past the $20 Yak brand jackets at the Warehouse - if you can find one...

It depends on what you want it to do. There are cheap options that are solely a splash jacket, non breathable, to more versatile ones like the Yak Pursuit etc at far more $. They offer better comfort, breathability, Latex dry seals, double sealed stitching etc.

Both have a place but it depends on your budget and what your wanting out of it.
Fishing is like a box of chocolates. you never know what is going to be served up...

As others have said it all comes down to your budget, I've used most of the NRS jackets and a few of the YAK ones too, no complaints about either of them.

You want to make sure they fit too, not tight as you need to be able to move around freely, I did have an early NRS jacket that for me wasn't wide enough across the shoulders and would pinch under the arms of every stoke - became very annoying very quickly..!

Head into a kayak shop to see what they have and check the fit - I see you are in Hamilton to head on in to the Canoe & Kayaks store and check out the range there :y:
Phoenix Kayaks - Hornet
Stealth - Evolution 465
Ramco - Fishmaster 580 My BIG kayak!
...and the countless other kayaks I've owned
