I guess this is a good reason never to leave a hatch open on the water. Sounds like it may have been open while trying to pull up the anchor?

I saw this as well.
I'd never leave my hatch open for any length of time. But I do find it a little ironic that the only time I do open it is during big swells when I'm storing gear to keep dry for beach landings.

At least it was only his pride hurt though!

Bummer. Could of been worse too. Like 6 k's offshore in 3m swells and 20knt winds.
