So long as there is no animosity between the two groups collaboration can only be helpful to both sets of members surely.
Just an events page would be good.

Totally agree however agendas often get in the way.

One of the things I love about this forum is there is no agendas as far as the moderators and admins go. The KFNZ is a website designed for everyone to enjoy and share experiences. Anyone can post up (who is a member) without having an admin remove the post because it conflicts with sponsors or for other personal reasons.

As far as having an events page this already exists on this forum and its called Competitions and Events. See this link: https://www.kayakfishingnz.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=37

Its a great community that has been around for a long time and is 10,000 strong, like Hainsey has said there is also a KFNZ Facebook page that follows the same format of no agendas, see here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/KayakFishingNZ/

Sadly myself and others from KFNZ have been banned from the NZKFG Facebook page with no good reason given so I cannot see what events etc are planned BUT there is the Competition and Events section on here where it could be posted - if it's for the growth and support of the sport I have no issues with it but as they deleted any mentions of KFNZ from their FB page I'm not sure they would |(

I have never understood why some people get weird about clubs, committees, memberships etc. Seems to really be bring out 'small p' politics in some people and they lose site of the bigger picture.

Like Frasier and Niles' wine club ...

To quote an old English saying.
Many a good club been spoilt by the internal politics of some members "ambitions".
Live and let live is my outlook, never have understood the power seekers in small non profit clubs/organisations.

Well said Ottarr :y:

I've been on the committee of several fishing and non-fishing clubs, on the executive of a national body over the years, and run KFNZ for nearly nine years and seen it all.

Lets all go fishing :y:

Thanks guys...some really good positive dialogue. As you've all identified this Forum is all about supporting and promoting the sport. Many of the yak fishos here may have sponsors, be manufacturers, or dealers, and in the vast vast majority of cases egos and commercial positions are "left at the door". There is often robust and good natured banter but that's what makes this place such a fun place to be !
Tight lines and I look forward to hitting the water again soon !

Wait... we're at war with another forum of yakers?

Do we get special stickers for our kayaks so we can identify each other and wage war on the seas?

I served on a parents committee once, after someone talked me into it because they "wanted more Dads".

After two meetings I realised it was essentially an organised cat-fight between two factions of the mumfia. I went to the third meeting briefly to share my insights.

No, but we have put "Bite Me" stickers on the underside of their kayaks.

At the end of the day, lazing around in a yak or doing battle with a benthic beastie is what it's all about.
I've randomly met up with and fished with some neat dudes (and dudesses) over the years on the water and never once thought to ask, "What is your alliance?"

Politics dominates everything else these days - Get on your yak and leave the luggage on the beach, I say.

I'm sorry to say that I joined some FB group maybe a year or 2 ago and within days there was some bad mojo towards this forum, so I never looked in there again. Don't know whether it's the same group in question here, but I decided not to go back and honestly I find FB groups are mostly for people too lazy to write full sentences on a forum anyway.

Are you two still high and dry??? Maybe the rest of us should each keep one fish alive on our next outing, throw them all in a barrel and let you two at it with shotguns. Or maybe I should let you use my kayak with an outboard on, no paddling required :)

My right wrist ( no jokes..I've heard them all and only some of them resemble the truth !).... so I can't even use a fillet knife or a shotgun, so can you drop them off filleted please ? :*
Brace is spending more and more time "off" and I'm allowed to do strengthening exercises now so hopefully I'll be out flicking a rod around soon !

Frustrating being hurt. I have even considered joining a local Coarse Fishing Club so I can sit next to a muddy puddle and pretend to fish! :o

Squidding is looking more doable though, ;)
