Hey Fellas, I'm new to kayak fishing and Nelson in general having shifted up from down south a few months back. Recently bought a yak and am pretty keen on getting out as much as I can but not having much luck. Any advice on where, when and what gear to fish this time of year would be much appreciated. I'd also be keen to meet up with anyone heading out. Cheers!

Welcome roach. Plenty of yakkers around in summer but hard to find this time of year. You should find someone out in cable bay on a weekend if weathers mint and high tide around lunch. Gurnard be worth targeting and seems to still be good numbers of smaller snaps around. Try small baits of anchovy or squid or a kabura in the rod holder. Stick with it and the fish will come.
If you over mot side of the bay flick me a msg n we try n organise something!!!!
