Since this is my biggest yet and my mittens do not qualify as regular fishing tackle therefore not making it eligible for any compo, I still do want to show off and it was tasty. Fullstop.

Nothing in the Comp Rules about disallowing "Catching by Hand". In fact last month has Yakman's JD caught by hand, and has gained 7 votes so far, making it 3rd equal so far. So I can't see why ya Cray wouldn't count. I'd vote for ya :y:

I gotsa agree with F'n'S. Catching Crays by hand is tricky business.

Specially without Tanks. So FB, if that was done Free-diving without a Cray Hook, Cray Loop or any other aid apart from ya gloved hands, then ya get extra points from me :y: Make that bare-handed, free-diving in the 20m+ range and ya nuts, but with big balls . Getting a Cray out of his hole with a T-shirt over bare-hands at 5m+ free-diving was fun enough :!:

Friend of mine caught a cray once without getting his feet wet. He was walking on the shore (Wairarapa) when he spotted some feelers sticking out of the water. He simply picked it up then. Best thing it even was legal size.

Nice cray :y: Is there a story to go with it?

FnS is right, you probably could put it in the comp. I asked the big boss about putting my hand caught JD in last months comp and was no problem.

Personally I think the more variety the better, thats whats its all about IMO.

You got me thinking there… I've asked Jase, see what he thinks. There's a story to it, because it wasn't the only catch (not the only cray either). You know these days, when everything works out and you feel like you could go on for 12hours straight. Well, vis was great, I was diving with a new buddy and we worked as a perfect team watching each others back, pointing to things of interest, sharing berley, these things. So I was not only catching two crays and shooting two yummy Tarakihi I made a new friend as well and we've been out yak fishing and yak diving for a couple of times now, sharing secret spots and tackle tips. Live is good :y:

Another shrimp… This time I got around to weigh it (just under 2kg) but didn't measure it. Yum
(not off a yak this time)
I needed both hands and a deeeeeep breath to get it out of it's hole.
