I'm planning on working on my paddle fitness and will be launching from the boat ramp off pukete road at 7am tomorrow.
Plan is to paddle at least as far as the narrows but hopefully to Cambridge bearing in mind the current will be in my favour on the way back.
If anyone wants to join me or meet up along the way such as Hamilton east to make for a shorter trip then drop me a line.

Woke up this morning with a real rough head cold. Burning eyes, snotty nose and didn't feel up to going out but after a little extra snoozing I hit the water soon after 9am.
Headed out from the Pukete boat ramp and soon met up with a bloke in a SIK.
We paddled south for a while, he was impressed how I was moving along in my 4.3. I was paddling up stream at almost 5km but didn't want to admit how hard it was 8)
I carried on all the way to the Hamilton Gardens 13.8km, turned around and headed back. Total over 27 k's and my biggest paddling session yet.

Didn't take any photos on the way there as the kayak swiftly spun around and I was heading backwards pretty quickly. Without a paddle in the water I drifted averaging 4.8kph so as you can probably imagine it was a hard slog there but cruising back at 10-14kph comfortably and took a few photos.
Oh yeah, still cant avoid those fizz boats, this guy was a good 3km out of the ski lane, swerved around me, carried on and returned to throw his wake at me a further 3 times |(

Everyone is a genius.

But if you judge a fish
on its ability to climb a tree.
it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.
