This weeks poll question was from TonesIam:
When you hear a splash behind you, and turn to look and see nothing, do you:
1) Think nah its nothing.
2) Remind yourself of the odds of being gulped up by a HUGE FREAKING SHARKKKKKKK
3) Pee your pants slightly
4) Check out what fish life you might think is around, and go chase it.

The bubbles would worry me a bit more I think. I sat here watching that thinking "why is he not grabbing his paddle and getting the
out of dodge"

I used to pee my pants but after quite a few scares I am getting desensatized. I would now chase it. I have had a few night trips and get quite excited by it. Not too sure if I would be as calm as bamalang though with those bubbles.
Simple is as simple does.

Unless you’ve been a diver…sk8e8 wrote:wow, I was freaking out watching the bubbles. I agree that would scare me more than splashes!
Mind you, those divers put up a good fight on light gear, especially when you’re trying to get the gaff in

looks like diver bubbles to me. hooking a diver could end badly for everyone, so I would move on.

I've patted small hammerheads, chased bronzies and been face to face with a 4+ metre great white.
For some reason, know what's there (although scary as hell at times) eases the mind a lot more than not knowing what it could be.

My first encounter with an orca Funky Monkey 068 off Eastern Beach was pretty awesome (and scary) when he went under the yak twice then circled around and poked his head out of the water alongside me but I knew he was there with the other 2, they went on to Wellington where they were filmed in the harbour. For me if you know its there you can deal with it. All the people i know that have dived in sharky waters in NZ and other places say it is the one you cannot see that will get you, when you are over a reef full of fish and 2 seconds later you are alone they have all scarpered that is when you should really panic.
