I use fresh cut baits and if it was only about catching fish,I'd just stick to it as I'm doing it now.
But most forunately it's not just about fish caught,it's a lot about simply fishing and nothing keeps you doing that better than trying new gear, methods, places to fish and types of fish to chase.
I first tried soft plastics from Cabela's in the States in 1990,but used the wrong tackle with poor skills an caught zilch.
Now I know better,,and it's just raising the $$$ for the soft bait gear I want that's slowing me down right now.
I looked at a 8 -10kg Sinit soft bait Kayak rod this morning,,,$500 an then you'd really want a nice reel to go with it,,,could be a while. :?:

Man, I wouldn't spend $500 on a SB rod (not yet at least). Have a chat to awondering - I've got a couple of his rods and they go nice :)

Used a packet of gulp the last trip out and they are useless compared to the El cheapo Mista Twista's I usually use from the Sale bins. They get chomped up and stuffed after only one fish whereas the others sometimes catch 6 sometimes and hang in there better.

You would love zmans or strike kings then paddlesnap, have some that have caught over 40 fish and are still usable.

kayak chris wrote:Hey guys,
This is just a bit of fun, The question is, your stuck on a deserted island with only your yak and a rod (and a couple of jig heads), you find a endless supply of one flavor Gulp, your choice, so what is it??? (This is flavor / colour, not shape that will be another poll ;) )
So you get one choice for your favorite colour gulp...
(I've probably missed some, so let me know)
When we gonna start the type / shape poll? I am interested to see what others are using. I have mainly been using the jerk shad

There are to many good colours and i won't leave home without a mixture of curried chicken, lime tiger, new penny, pink shine and saphire shine/ blue pepper neon. It pays to keep your options open with a wide variety on hand. Nuc chook is over rated in my eyes
