Interesting discussion on how people perceive a glimpse of an unknown shape.
It's one of these: She's on her side and the 'dorsal' is the flipper (the Stick in the first pic is the tail, edge-on
)
Although in reality you may have seen more to give the game away, but quite often you hear a splash or whatever and turn in time to just catch a glimpse.
Pointloader gets the biggest piece of cake, and I'd have to throw a couple of pieces to the "It's a Ray" team, I looked at the pics after reading that ID and it was very easy for my feeble brain to make it fit the preconceived idea
Here's her Debut a few years back

I think whats interesting is peoples willingness to jump in the ocean with it. Thing is HLD, you new what it was and also new what the still photos looked like, hence posting it up.

I was one of the early "yes" votes as it looked like a pectoral to me, but that said it would certainly have grabbed my attention and I'd have been standing there watching for a few minutes to make absolutely sure.

Although a photo of the rotten tree trunk that bumped my yak one night and made me make a girly squeal wouldn't have had quite the same entertainment value (for me anyway
