And now for something completely different.....

You pull up to your favourite beach, all geared up for a day of slaughtering fish and then you see this about 100m out :worried: :worried:
Bigass.jpg
Would you launch?
Or climb back in the car, lock the doors and wind up the windows?

As a footnote, this was photographed in a bay in Northland. It has not been 'shopped' in any way other than lifting the light levels.

I had a lost billfish from the first pic with what looked like a very sharp pointed tail but that second pic says Shark for sure.

I don't mind saying was one of the "launch" votes, I wouldn't go out and aggravate it and give it the respect it deserves but I'd sure like to cruise along with it just to see it up close, prob not much point in taking too much fishing gear though as it's probably scared the life out of any resident fish  so just load the kayak up with the cameras :y:

I think that I'd be inclined to go out for a look, all be it paddling VERY slowly without any electronic devices on. If it is a big shark it is highly unlikely to think that a big shape approaching it is prey.

Before you guys say that I am nuts remember that I did jump in the water with a couple of killer whales recently...

Agreed, every experience I have had in approaching a shark, they tend to startle and bugger off however when already fishing and on their turf they tend to circle a few times, figure that I'm boring then carry on.

Looked like a shark to me but can't gauge the size from the pics.

I voted that I would launch and have a cautious look... That said, I reckon if I could see it was a monster shark then I probably wouldn't be quite so gung-ho.

Am I right that most commonly you would see bronzies in close, makos out wide, and Gt whites showing up anywhere?
