Hi, looking at getting a vhf handheld radio. Having difficulty deciding between a compact one or a larger one with GPS and dcs. All 5w.

How useful is GPS on a vhf? I currently have a fishfinder only (no gps)

Thanks

Probably not that useful on a regular day, but I look at it his way. Your VHF is attached to your person. If you loose your kayak and need to make a distress call, then being able to read your position off your VHF could be very helpful.
