Bought a new camera a few weeks ago, as I had heard great things about them.
It's a Mobius ActionCam Full HD Sports Camera with a narrow (normal, limited distortion) lens.
They are very big in the UAV/FPV community, which is how I found out about them.
1080p (30fps)
Wide angle lens available
Fully configureable via either PC or Android App through USB
Two capture modes available on the go
Not waterproof (cases available, but they look pretty rough)
I got mine from here. For US$69, you can't go too wrong.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/151071891306" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
As for the image quality, I took some footage this morning with lots of contrast/sun glare/shadows, so you can judge for yourself.

The $69 is US dollars ~$NZ91. My next order to them (HK) should include one.

Mac, that comparison video is very good. Makes the GoPro look a bit warm in comparison.
I saw (like you) the other day that HobbyKing have started selling these.
If only they were waterproof out of the box...

Possibly or maybe the GoPro is a little better in difficult lighting situations. Then again it should be considering up to 5 times the cost. Personally I think the comparison shows that the Mobius is quite satisfactory / acceptable, especially at the price.Hawk wrote:Mac, that comparison video is very good. Really means if you didn't run the 2 videos/cameras side by side you'd never know the difference.

Yeah, not sure what to conclude on this. I think its the way they average the exposure perhaps. To me, looks like that GoPro overexposes the background to enable detail in the foreground, where the Möbius was the opposite.Mac50L wrote:Possibly or maybe the GoPro is a little better in difficult lighting situations.Hawk wrote:Mac, that comparison video is very good. I tend not to think of it a a direct competitor to the GoPro/Contour types, but does things slightly differently. Its not waterproof and not as robust, but is incredibly small and very light. Only 40g!

Still think that's possibly a pretty good bet too, but haven't bought one yet.
Got a Möbius because of the live video feed ability and the light weight for attaching to a multi rotor heli.
Also been looking at all the SJCAM cameras lately too. They seem to have a great range at some very sharp prices.

The vid quality seems really good and reportedly better than some of the older more expensive GOPRO models.
Check Schecters trip report as he has one too.
Heres one of my vids still new at this...

That's good value for money, especially the accessories that come with it! My GoPro camera alone cost $200. The additional items such as SD card, anti-fog inserts and headstrap are additional.MadMike wrote:And this is super cheap for a NZ stocked offering!

When I got my GoPro I didn't look into the detail. If Destin had a GoPro, I had to have one also.
