This are being pushed quite hard at the moment with full page adverts in fishing mags. The price is around $199.
I'm in the market for a fishfinder and I'd appreciate any comments on these. Will they do a reasonable job? Are there any other models to consider?

Thanks JR

for the price mate you can't go wrong.
It will do everything you want in a fishfinder. Depth, water temp, show you wants on the bottom and tell you where the fish are.
unless you were wanting a chart plotter then you could consider Elite 4 HDI.

I'm also interested in any input mate, They look good but I'm also new to them so my opinion doesn't mean much :) just for your info marine deals have the elite 4x HDI (still not a chart plotter) on sale for $249 which I think is bloody good. Usually about $350

You can get an elite 4 without chartplotter how ever the elite 4 HDI does have chartplotter . And is usually around the $600 mark.

Thanks for the feedback. On reflection I think I will go for a model with a chartplotter.

Is there any real difference between the popular models (Garmin, Humminbird, Raymarine and Lowrance) or does it really come down to personal choice and price?

I'd appreciate any comments/thoughts.
Thanks

It depends on what you like at the end of the day. If you have an ocean kayak hummingbird will fit the transducer nicely as the kayaks are manufactured to accomodate for the hummingbirds.
The latter model Vikings will fit most fish finder brands transducers.

Just be aware of the size of the transducer when purchasing your fish finder to ensure that the transducer will fit your kayak.
