Hello,

The newest of newbies and curious to know if there is a North Shore based kayaking club. I'm in the Devonport area and very, very new to the sport so would love to find a local club to go out with. Cheers!

Actually I wondered about that as well. I go out from rothesay bay and I know there is a loose group of guys all keen as hell that go out. I have links to Torbay sailing club and a yak fishing mate at browns bay boating club. I suggested to him that maybe we should think about a club on the shore.....as usual too much other stuff going on to get organized. I mentioned the clubs as they may provide a base......
If there is enough interest then happy to assist organize a kick off meeting

We purchased a recreational kayak that has been modified for fishing, this way we can take the kids out. The husband is less keen but he tends to get on the band wagon once it starts rolling. Happy to help you with organizing!

A North Shore based club sounds like a great idea. Will keep an eye out for a get together on the future.

Can't find any reference to them ....... I would have thought that they would smack this posting like a greedy snapp after a juicy pillie. I am gonna talk to my contact at browns bay boating club. I am thinking that one of their regular talk sessions could relate to kayak fishing we could advertise in here and see what happens.

Not sure exactly but ping a PM to Mental as they sometimes uses the JO offices at Silverdale for their meetings

I am.... I am talking to a contact at browns bay boating club who is a keen yak fisherman....I am thinking of having a kick off meeting just so we can compare notes re what we want from a club.....I am more Torbay sailing club than browns bay boating club but browns have an excellent series of guest speakers - should be easy to get someone along to talk kayak fishing techniques, soft baits or whatever. I should have something set up in a week or so...

Update recd today - the possibility of forming some form of an association with a kayak fishing group is to be discussed in committee at browns bay bc next wed. Me and my man from browns bay, wozza, had a look at their constitution and what we are thinking of does link in. :y:

If we can get something going through this association then I think it gives the kayak club the best chance if hitting the ground running.

I am thinking of having a kick off meeting maybe Wednesday 24 preferably at the browns bay marine centre but there are other alternatives selling refreshments in the area.

The idea at that meeting is to get an idea what we want from a kayak fishing club. What is its purpose and maybe how formal do we want it to be.

Thoughts anyone ? If anyone has a better idea feel free to jump in
