What are the target spieces around akaroa

Just wondering if I was to go to akaroa over summer what would I be expected to catch

Summer at akaroa sees the swarming of the kiwi holiday maker - use a big hook and a floppy hat for bait. Expensive coffee works for the females...

nah mate - not sure these days but red cod (watch for lice), maybe some blue if you went way out up the harbour and moki/butterfish in the kelp...

watched a couple slay the fish after a morning digging up worms from the shallows,
no one else was catching anything
