how about we keep an eye on the winds S / SE hit the west coast , N / NW the south if the swell drops. haven't fished the harbour for a while , my work mate has seen some decent work ups around the Horokiwi area this week . I noticed a lot of bird action off Lyall Bay between west ledge and Te Raekaihau Point

Poor yak hasn't been wet for a while

I managed to get out this morning on the harbour for a couple of hours between Matiu island and BP on the motorway ,wow the paddle fitness is crap and only after a couple of weeks  .had fun on some light gear catching KY on the SB's and also got to take the fish finder that i won at the TKFC for it's first run , Pity i didn't bring all of the bits and bobs to make it work  .

fingers crossed for some settled weather tomorrow

Hi all

weather permitting i am taking the boy out to soames in the morning probably around 8 8:30ish and leaving from the foreshore east end (parking for trailer) then if the weather is still holding will be taking my daughter out to soames as well probably around 1 ish. the forecast is for southerlies clearing by lunch but i have just been out to the foreshore and the fog is rolling in and yes it is comeing from the south. looking to get some KW and maybe some BC out at the island and possibly a bunch of mussels as they are are prolific over there. if i had some dive gear would get some paua as well.

Wish i read this last night before i had a late one , water looks like it's in top conditions again this morning great for the kids, would be a perfect way to get my daughter away from Bebo  .
One of the guys said fog was a real problem yesterday morning in the harbour .

have fun out there Erik

Hi all

Yes it was pretty primo out on the water no real wind and flat as a flat thing. slept in a bit and didnt get on the water till about 8:30 9ish and just as we started out the rain came down. luckily only for about 10 miins. My boy was fizzing as he hadnt been out for a while (in fact the last time we were out was the weekend after the naki comp up at tauranga)
trolled some lures out to soames and got nothing and tried a few spots all around the island and apart from the odd undersize BC was a pretty quiet day. headed back a bit later than planned and after a brief toilet stop at the island started to make our way back. still nothing and that was it for the day. my son got blown by what little wind there was into a yacht race not that it mattered as he was moving faster than them. got back home and started to clean up and my wife turns up from looking for me as i was 3 hours late  and i hadnt taken my phone so she didnt know what was going on. needless to say i got a bollocking :(

but it was good to be out on the water even if it was a little chilly. no fog but it did mist up a couple of times
