Has anybody heard of or bought from http://adventureware.nz/beacons/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Just checking as their rescue me plb1 is very cheap.

Think it's because these units are Australia coded.
No biggy, just adds a couple of minutes while Oz phone RCCNZ and hand it over to them.

Thanks that was my next question. Is it worth the extra 100 to get an nz one? I've seen a few old posts that recommend it. But recently the overseas group got rescued on mt cook with an overseas one

Not a legal requirement to be registered in NZ, as long as it is registered (in this case with Aussie).

As far as kayaks are concerned, if you're in a situation where your Mayday has gone unanswered for whatever reason and no-one has seen your parachute flare(s), an extra 15 minutes isn't going to alter the situation drastically.

I think reprogramming them to the NZ net isn't overly expensive, but by the time you start adding couriers the saving diminish quickly.
