Here is the my new naked Reload...Thanks Stephen and the team at Viking Kayaks. Has internal battery tray and lots of mounting positions. Good fun.
Just new a chartplotter...mount the star ports and Im away.
How have other people with the chill pod found it in the surf. I love surfing and was thinking going down the bag route but would be interested in others comments. Most of my fishing is just a meat hunt snapper 90% of the time.

looking good.....!
If by surfing you mean "taking the yak out for a surf", I definitely remove the Chillpod or the bag.....they will get water in them and will be a hinderance.
If you mean how does the Chillpod go in the surf, they can pop out from under the front clips if you turtle in the wash.
There's a couple of fixes....
One is to fit a strap that goes across the front on the Chillpod and utilises the brass inserts on either side of the hull.
Option two, is to do what I've done in the attached pic.....couple of bungy tie downs and clips from Viking and it's nice and tidy and all sorted and won't fall out in a turtle !

Anyone using a 4 inch dragonfly chart plotter seems like a cheap sounder.

Thanks to the team for answering all the questions about the ocean seat. Proof of concept above and my butt fits quite nicely and very comfortable for me in this current setting. Can be folded down for transport and I will add an extra rear restraint to make the install symmetrical and finish off all the fittings. Next stop Electrical...

What is the track? and hd mount for ?
cheers also . I was goin to use two latches, like the ones that hold down the lids on the prowlers but for $20 a latch no thanks. I have a couple of barracuda loops I might use insted.Pronto wrote:Cheers for posting that pic Hainsey - I've been thinking about ways to secure my chill pod and that method looks nice and clean.

Just saw this post. Am looking at getting the loops & lashing for my chill pod.Hainesy wrote:Option two, is to do what I've done in the attached pic.....couple of bungy tie downs and clips from Viking and it's nice and tidy and all sorted and won't fall out in a turtle
Complete newbie here
When I purchase these parts from viking, is this drill & tap or will it be self tappers ?
Unsure what to do here. Also, unsure which screws I should buy as well, as there is no mention for the loops with supplied fixings.
Ummm... the loop on the chill pod lid has almost broken threw & needs replacing, when I replace this, I am guessing, since the new fixing screw might not hold as rigid as the original fixing, I am not too sure what I might need to do.

My friend has an earlier Dragonfly on his 4.5 metre tinny he has five warranty claims!! It is now out of warranty and no longer has charts! He says avoid them . Waterproof issues. He is one that wont touch Raymarine again.phishpula wrote:Anyone using a 4 inch dragonfly chart plotter seems like a cheap sounder.
