Re: Old Town Predator PDL

Just drove passed a tinny with outboard on trailer for sale on side of road up here. Didn't stop and wasn't going slow but looked like about 12/14'. Sign said $2k ono. Could go back and get more details if you like. Hopefully the outboard isn't a POS.

Re: Old Town Predator PDL

Mothership your existing yak with the tinny :-) Yak as a tender for the inflatable ;-)

Re: Old Town Predator PDL

Even just his kayak is about 4/5k. The micro skiff he uses is way more. Back to one of my opening points - the new 10HP inflatable is about the same cost as a predator PDL. Regarding Rod, in his video yesterday he very briefly addressed which he'd rather be using in choppy seas - it wasn't the yak,...

Re: Old Town Predator PDL

Had to laugh at his first serious fish on the first serious outing with the inflatable he got recently. That marlin was way too green to be that close to the boat, it jumps and punctures it. Too funny.

Re: Old Town Predator PDL

Thanks for that. What make and model of inflatable was it? I must admit to not seeing youtube videos of the current inflatables in rough seas, but apart from being caught out, it's unlikely I'm taking the yak out in that anyway. But because an inflatable can get out wider it could be argued it would...

Re: Cheapest good polarised sunnies - got any good sources please?

Got a cheap floating set off marine deals - the Aropec brand. Seem good but will see how long they last. $30+the standard $10 delivery. It did made me think there ought to be a youtube channel dedicated to reviewing fishing gear from any seller, including those on Ali Express, to sort out the cheap ...

Re: Old Town Predator PDL

I guess a tinny is much harder to puncture, but need a trailer, and cant wheel it down to the waterline when no boat ramp.
Either way, can get fishing faster or cover much more ground, get wider, etc. Probably harder to sneak up on 'em in the shallows though and more slap slap slap against the side.

Re: Old Town Predator PDL

Really am not trying to be 'that guy' but for the price they are asking for these sorts of weapons, you can get an inflatable with 10hp outboard. Less time paddling/peddling, more time fishing. fold it up into the back seat/boot of the car. apart from spikey things (the tubes are always multiple cha...

Re: Matauri Bay

Thanks. Just trying to work out if I want to try again. It just seems like too much of a coincidence, but stranger things have happened. And no, I don't drink the water if I can avoid it.

Re: Matauri Bay

Hi Fishfood. I've paddled out the Waipu river mouth four times in total now, and twice I have either come down with a tummy bug or skin infection on my lower legs, or both. Is it just coincidence or pollution? Anyone else up that way noticed this? Doesn't happen to me anywhere else.

Got a soft spot for those cheap Shimano reels. Blows me away how much abuse they can take.

Cheapest good polarised sunnies - got any good sources please?

Ali-Express would be my go-to place for such things. I never seem to lose the cheap stuff, only the expensive gear. So, no more expensive sunnies for me unless I can't find a good cheap option. If you've bought any recently or have any suggestions, could you please share where and how much they cost...

Re: Paddle Shopping Auckland

Ta. It's really cool it's getting used. How have you found the transition to such a paddle? Easier on the body, can go for longer but just not the same power/top speed of a Euro/conventional paddle? *ETA* about the loom profile I know what you mean, I made one with the conventional oval profile and ...

Good work. Try microjigs if you read this in time. Cast/retrieve just like softies.
Thanks. Only ever seemed to catch annoyingly little stuff on 'em when used last, but will will give 'em another try next time out.
