Re: KNOTS FOR JOINING BRAID
Interesting knot.. Could be hard to tie on kayak at the mercy of the ocean condidtions. I haven't attempted a Bimini on the kayak, I have been switching to the Albright as I've practiced it far more. Like any knots thought, if well practiced, the Bimini, Cats Paw, Yucatan and Albright are all knots...

Re: Auckland Region - SeaClear Uploads
Just if you're interested... there is an IPhone app called Navionics Marine (New Zealand) that I use all the time when checking where I want to try fishing next, and works with GPS so you can see where you are in relation to the charts. Also has the ability to link into Google Maps (from within the ...

Re: KNOTS FOR JOINING BRAID
I think the best way for a braid to braid connection is as follows... 1. Do a Bimini Twist on both ends of braid http://www.leadertec.com/tipsandtechniques/fishing_knots/knots_Bimini.html 2. Simply do a cats paw connection. http://www.leadertec.com/tipsandtechniques/fishing_knots/knots_catspaw.html ...

Re: Sea Anchor questions...
Hence my issue... The tide fair rips through the channel where I fish due to the massive difference between wellington and paraparaumu tides. Because it's open ocean, when there is a decent wind, you REALLY don't want to be out there fishing so I'm using it in high tide low wind situations and it d...

Does any one else in here cut that little bit of s/p off before putting it on the jig head you know that little bit left from the mould on the head end? so it sits nice and flush against the jig head :^) Nope....I bite it off :$ Never thought of biting it off :^) Biting is the way to go, and if the...

Well, I had my stuff ready for an early start, then had people over and they stayed way too late. Out at 11 AM saw me going missing inbetween the chop lol.
No fish, but first try of the new set. STOKED with it!

Wow, give me a moment to rub my eyes... Just read all 13 pages!
Will check with the Mrs, and if she's keen, I'll scab my Dad's campervan and come over.
I'm a noobie 'yakker', and will prob be using mostly plastics and slow jigs.

Re: Dream Kayak - What do you want?
OH MAN!! I LOVE the light idea. If I'm going out in low light, I (obviously) have a head lamp on, but to have something fixed would rock! One big thing I wish I had on my mission 420, was some confined dry storage. I either have 'wet' storage or I have to open up the bulkhead (if thats what its call...

Re: Intro, south auckland
Live in Wattle Downs. Over summer was just fishing in the puhurihuri inlet (sp?) as I got used to fishing out of my kayak. The fish have since stopped coming up that far (other than the baby sharks lol) so I've been heading over to Orere Point way, and trying different spots around there. Also fishi...

Intro, south auckland
Hi guys,
Thanks to Mental for suggesting this site!
Been fishing for a few years, started in the kayak just this year. Live down south auckland and try to get out once a week. Mostly softbaiting or straylining, and most times going out solo (currently that is)
Cheers!
