Re: Where are we with fish finders?

I got someone to do it for me. Mounted on the cup holder, on an SS custom bracket. I bought it with the GT51M transducer, and had that mounted on the ride plate on the ski. Been up to 60km/h and still reading the bottom. Can put some pics up later if you want. I think Mad Mike has the exact same set...

Re: Where are we with fish finders?

I have a 9 inch Garmin Echomap 95sv which does everything you've listed there, including #1

The only thing, it doesn't take Navionics, they have their own map (which is good) PLUS quickdraw (which I love!!!)

Re: Transducer cable Garmin echo 100- Help!

I'm crap at that sort of thing, so I'd be looking at replacing either the transducer for about $120, or upgrading the unit completely. A Lowrance Hook 3x is like $160 and you can go up from there http://baymarineelectronics.co.nz/fish-finders-1/transducers-accesories/garmin-77-200-transom-4-pin.html...

I have a baitcaster set here - a tica baitcaster and a catana rod. $70 if you want it. Good working condition.

Re: Blue Mako F40 Profish vs Cobra Marauder

Yeah just depends what you want it for - the odd casual trip or serious fishing. IMO, to some degree at least, you'll get what you pay for. Check the guarantee times for both - I think Viking for example, have 30 years or something?? Ok, I did it myself as I was interested. Blue Mako: Two year retur...

If I were buying again, I'd be going Reload. Have had the 440 and 400, and both were nice.

Re: Discounted PLB group-buy for KFNZ members.

Thanks for that. I'm thinking about the ACR one. Nice and small. I do much of my fishing from a Jet Ski now days, and do some pretty big trips (60km out). My handheld VHF is pretty useless at the best of times (just outside Raglan bar for example, can't contact the CG) so I think this is a no-braine...

Re: Reel knob

When jigging, I personally prefer to have a T knob rather than a round one. Better grip, and I also found the round one gave me blisters (soft computer hands).

If I was going to put a new knob on, that's the way I'd go!

Re: Whos hand does this hook belong to

I've only had one hook in past the barb, and it was a small treble. Like most, was from a Kahawai. Man it hurt!!!
There are a few youtube vids on how best to remove hooks. Pretty hard solo in your hand though
