Quick arvo sesh at Kaiaua

Whipped out to kaiaua mussel farms yesterday after having my boy home sick for the day. Managed to get on the water at 4pm. The water was like an oil slick, absolutely beautiful. Paddling out there was heaps of sign in the shallows, but due to limited time of light left I didn't want to spend time e...

Re: Baitcasters and Braid

I have a quantum exo baitcaster loaded with 30lb suffix 832. in the first few times i used it, come to think of it, i too experienced bedding in on itself, to the point where i cast a few jigs and the braid bust and i saw my jig sink to never be retrieved. But after a few trips, it quickly came righ...

Epic fish! You should be stoked with that!! Would love to see a photo of the jaw when it's done! There's some good YouTube vids that might help.

Fishing Blind and Won

Hit the Firth this morning with a guy I'd never met, Brad. Contacted through facebook, was good to fish with him. He was keen, travelling from Whangaparoa to meet me at the mussel farms, so we met there about 6:45am and got setup. I quickly realised I'd forgotten my battery, so fishing blind was a n...

Re: new toy - Daiwa Ballistic 2500 Reel

Interesting thread to read through guys - you're all full of gold. I did import the reel, looked locally but couldn't find this particular reel and wasn't aware of the issues around servicing it. I certainly am now. But It's a beautiful little reel, shame you can't get them in nz. Here's hoping I do...

new toy - Daiwa Ballistic 2500 Reel

just had this delivered, a little Daiwa Ballistic 2500. had the k-labs for a few months but needed a reel to suit it, reckon this thing feels pretty good. light, strong, small, balanced on the rod, and has this mag-seal feature which i'm hoping will aid keeping water out of the reel.

Re: Installing rail blaze to ocean kayak 4.3

How did you contort your arm to get the nuts in in? Ok cool I'll see if anyone else has any input before I start drilling Haha, yeah it was an effort and hassle. What I did was use some extensions in a socket set connected together, put the right sized socket On and put the nut in that, pushed it u...

Re: Installing rail blaze to ocean kayak 4.3

Heya Memnoch. I've put an HD railblaza mount in each flat part of mine. I managed to find a way to get there with nuts and bolts, but self tapping screws should be fine. I just wanted the extra strength- it was heaps extra hassle tho. I didn't use any silicon in the 8 holes a drilled (4 per mount). ...
