Re: Kmart Sale gulp and berkley

Hamilton had a few.
Price tags all botched up.
Most were actually $8 a pack apart from 3/8 Oz #3/0.
Quite misleading the way the display was presented and on principal I'd prefer to support the likes of Mike and Rob

Re: Deadmans Point - Kingfish

Maybe it was a one off but I caught a 18Kg kingfish (I'll call it a fluke). Launched from Wilson Bay, paddled of t to the farms with no success and back to Deadmans point. There were Kahawai around and trolling a 3" softbait I hooked up. I believe that the Kingfish prey on baitfish in the current of...

Re: Anchor management

I've never had to cut off an anchor. I've had some pretty solid snagged anchors too. In the cases where I've had mine snagged I retrieve what I can minus about 3-5 metres of warp, tie off at the running rig and paddle like hell in the opposite direction to which I was anchored. In the most severe ca...

Re: advice on Kingfish live-bait rig

I often use the hook that comes off the shelf with a jig as a livebait hook. Only downside is if there is plenty of action around you have to mess around with split rings switching between jigs and livebait rigs when you could potentially have a line in the water. Yes, another split ring adds potent...

Re: It was that big???

Ive had an encounter. Always easier said than done but usual drill....... Keep calm. The first thing I do when surrounded by buddies though is advise I'm getting a bit of attention and/or shark in the area. Often the way one operates on the water can change when they know there's a predator around a...

Re: advice on Kingfish live-bait rig

Here's my rig, very simple, very versatile and has proven very reliable. I use a spin/jig rod 50lb braid with FG knot to 80lb Fluoro then chain knot to a ring. image.jpeg I have used this rig with a Sabiki rig snapped onto the ring. Catch a livey, snap on a Livebait rig and balloon. No bites on liveba...

Re: Night Fishing

I've only tried a few times, Softbait is far less effective but can work. It's quite scary having a string puller surface next to you and all you can see until it actually surfaces is the reflection of the moon on the water. I'll also never forget Hainesy retrieving a bait at dusk to have a squid at...
