Impact of sonar on marine animals
Hey guys, need a bit of a hand with something. I'm doing NCEA lvl 3 Earth and Space Science, and we have an assignment to do already :( . It's an investigation on a socio-scientific issue, and I chose to do mine on the impact of sonar on marine wildlife, specifically their movement/migration. First ...

Re: Oh dear, what am I doing here?
After having an Explorer, I would recommend a Navigator. It's basically the same thing as the Explorer, but longer. That extra length really helps with tracking, as I found the Explorer a bit zig-zaggy, even in good conditions. One thing you might be able to do is trial the kayaks. Take it out for a...

Re: Oh dear, what am I doing here?
Just on the weight carrying limit, there are things that can make it easier to transport kayaks, like the C-Tug wheels. Just about any kayak can be modded, either by yourself or by your local kayak retailer, to be a decent fishing kayak. I myself have a Cobra Explorer that I added a couple of rod ho...

Re: Oh dear, what am I doing here?
What sort of budget are you looking at? It will help people recommend you yaks. A pretty standard weight for a fishing yak (eg Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 or a Viking Profish 400) is ~24kgs.

Re: Braid question
Avoid cheap as, odd ball , bargin no-name stuff Yeah, I tried to start softbaiting a couple years ago, had no idea what I was doing, had a Shimano Alivio 6000FA, bought cheapo 30lb colour changing braid, and immediately went back to stinky stuff. That stuff was horrible to work with, and it was kno...

Braid question
Hey guys, long time no see :hai: Anyway, I've decided to join the softbait revolution, and will be heading out with no stinky stuff in an effort to catch fish with softies. However, before that happens I need a softie setup. I"ve got an alright reel for it (Daiwa Regal Plus 3500BRi, maybe a lit...

Re: Mussel Farm help please
Talk about a bump
I find pretty much anything will work in the mussel farms, but my fav is squid purely for its ability to stay on the hook better than a lot of stink bait

Firth Of Thames 9/2/14 - First TR ever
So for the first time in a while I managed to get out :whew: Lauched a couple of hours before high tide, must have been about 1:30pm or so. Cruised out for about 500m just to get into around 4m of water, awesome day, pretty much dead flat seas. First fish was a kahawai of around 30cm or so and I rea...
