Identity?

Grateful if one of the learned on here could help me identify this shark that was caught in waters between Trinidad & Venezuela. Approx 11 deg North of the Equator. Thanks for the help.

Re: Getting serious on seriolas and a few snapper Aussie Style

Cheers Brendon. Really enjoyed that report. Good to see some fish here in Perth. I have to say though, I’ve found the fishing much harder here in Perth than in NZ but I guess it makes you appreciate it more when you catch. The bag limit of 2 demersal fish is tough but I guess the fishery needs prote...

FS : K-labs OH soft bait set

Sad to see this set go as it is one of my “go-to” sets but alas, go it must..... K-labs 7ft 2piece (20lbs max) overhead soft bait rod complete with bag. 5 yrs old and meticulously looked after. Some cosmetic wear apparent on the reel seat which does not affect performance. Reel is a Diawa Coastal Ba...

Re: Tapuaetahi Fishing Lodge

Nice one Fletch. Was there a few weeks back and did well but didn't manage any JDs. Did find some blue cod though, man those things are yummy! Very well appointed Bach too. Would highly recommend.

Tapuaetahi & Matai 15th -17th July

Was debatable weather wise as to wheather this trip was to go ahead but as the time drew nearer the forecast improved. Was meant to meet up with AR & Kerry but work and family commitments spoilt their fun. So headed up North with my fishing buddy Tim and spent 3 awesome days exploring the coastlines...

Re: Upgrading to carbontex drag washers

Will post pics at the weekend. Reel is a Stradic Ci4+ 2500. Washers are a snug fit and don't turn so easily in the reel. Thickness seems ok as everything went back together ok and clipped in place easily. If they're supposed to turn easily Within the housing then I reckon their diameter may be too b...

Upgrading to carbontex drag washers

Was feeling adventurous so gave this a shot. watched some you tube clips. cut & filed washers to similar size as originals. a hint of cals drag grease just to fill the groves on the washers Then reassembled according to the schematic that came with the reel. I tried it out last Sat. Drag not so smoo...

Re: Disposing of fish carcass at sea

t when you see people gutting fish on the beach whilst kids are swimming a few metres away it is not good. Yep. Need to show some consideration. I gut n gill at the waters edge and there are always enough birds such that whatever gets thrown their way (guts, gills the works) is scavenged in no time...

Re: Autumn Clear Out Part 1

Should have said that pickup is from Auckland or I am happy to post these out (except Bluewater Rod) at the buyers expense. Rough estimate; reels $10, Rod $20. Any questions please feel free to ask in open forum or PM.
