Retirement Fishing

Hey there all Hawkes Bay Fishos, Having only just retired I got to head out last week for my first expedition since retiring. Since it was bloody cold I decided for a later launch time of 9am. Since the ramp and beach by the port has been closed I ended up launching on the Westshore side opposite th...

Re: wake up

I threw my yak into the water at the port yesterday at 7am. Headed out to the red bouy behind 2 other yaks that were anchored further out. No luck for the first hour, then hooked and landed a great ky. Other yaks then came in as they were only catching sharks! They moved on to green bouy. Fishing th...

Welcome to Napier, there are quite a few of us that head out here. Not so much during the winter months, but there is still good fishing most places. Saturday 2nd June

Last minute decision so headed out to fish the port waters at 8.30am. Sea was flat with no wind, water temp was 13 degrees and air temp about 10 so not a bad morning. Paddled out to far bouy and anchored, after 30 mins all that was caught was 2 spineys. Decided to head in to port entrance where I an...

Easter Sunday

Headed out to red bouy at port this morning with RJ at 6,30am. Plenty of fish noise on sounder. Came home with 5 good ky, 3 snapper and a Trevally between us. Returned at least 12 ky back as well as small snapper. Home by 10am, good morning on the water, pity others did not head out for some action,...

Great Catch RJ. Must have taken all your willpower to get it aboard the yak! I can verify that it was a monster as I have seen the head! Weighed more than most fish that I have caught! 8)
Would have been good to be out there, buts thanks for the fresh fish anyhow. :y:

Re: Dec 2/3

Good to see some good fish are being caught. Had planned to head out today but got an offer to head into the hills to chase some venison. Unfortunatly I would have been better off catching some fish. Will be out next week as long range weather forecast looks good. :y:
