Good work! Or no work in your case... I smoked up a Trevally recently and had it in fish cakes- very tasty indeed. Good in Sashimi too I heard if you're that way inclined.

Burley making by numbers

For those of us who still use burley and stink bait... I've been saving up fish frames, old Pilchards, guts n gills etc for a while in the bait freezer for the purpose of making burley. A guy from another fishing forum (Dan Musson) inspired me once when I watched a you tube video of him making burle...

Great stuff. Looks like magic conditions. Kayaking fishing is such a blast. Imo it's the most exciting and productive form of fishing having surfcasted and boat fished for years. Kayak fishing wins hands down. Thanks for posting and keep the TRs coming as you continue to head out [emoji5] Sent from ...

Puk Bay firing again. 25-01-19

I drove past Pukerua Bay twice on Friday before actually making it down for a fish at 6pm. Stunning conditions all day with boats and kayaks everywhere. I was fizzing to get out there and into it. Met a friend out there in his rubber ducky and waited for another mate Mike in his kayak. So the three ...

Re: Berleying and anchoring - how to and what not to...

Hi Gavmania. For me I have always anchored, bait and burleyed so I can't comment on softbaiting / drifting. I fish predominantly over sand in around 12-13m of water so I rely on the burley to attract fish to me so for me it's a must. I purchase 2 burley bombs (sometimes make my own with a mulcher) a...

Pukerua Bay Dec 27, Jan 12

Dec 27. Hit Pukerua Bay at 6:30am (slept in Doh!) and the conditions were near perfect 9/10 so wasn't expecting much as from previous experience the nice conditions don't produce that good at all where I fish (12-13m over sand). Once anchored up and pumping burley rod bent over big time and after a ...

Pukerua Bay 11-12-18

I had called all my fishing buddies, people I meet out there on occasion and even people interested in trying kayak fishing but no one was able to make it! Oh well a solo mission it was. Forecast was good but it didn't look that flash at home (Levin) when I left. Got to Puk Bay at around 5pm and the...

Re: New to Horowhenua Coast

Hi Brian. Thanks for your reply. I was wondering if there were any other kayak fishos here. Mind you I have seen a few on roof racks driving around.Good to hear your getting out and catching them already! Good on you. I'd be really keen to meet up and head out sometime. How far out do you head? Is i...

New to Horowhenua Coast

Howdy. I have recently moved from Upper Hutt to Levin. Normally fish in the summer / autumn months a bit further down the coast at Pukerua Bay. I'm looking at heading out at our local beaches once we settle in and water gets warmer. Are there any folk who head out at Hokio beach, Waikawa or Waitarer...

Re: Newbie from Nelson

Welcome mate! I purchased a 2+1 new on trade me for $950 ish. It was a second but all that was wrong was a misplaced sticker. I think it came from the guys at the factory shop. You could give them a bell and see what they have... The kayak also came with 2 new 2 piece paddles. Yes the 2+1 is a breez...

Month of May, a force to be reckoned with!!

Was blessed to be able to head out for a fish this afternoon at my favourite little Bay Pukerua. Should really have been working but I'm the boss so what the hang! [emoji23]. Forecast was 8-9/10 and we were in May so I had high hopes of success. Previous May outings in years gone by have been fruitf...
