Re: braid with mono backing

to prevent the braid slipping, when starting to spool an empty reel tie a simple knot around the empty reel and then attach a small piece of duct tape to stick the braid to the empty reel. Tape it in the correct direction... and then spool the reel, the pressure of the braid on the tape will prevent...

Hi guys, hoping to do a trip to mussel farm fishing....exploring this weekend if weather permits. Just wondering if anyone knows exactly where the Kaiaua mussel farms are where to launch from. I heard its 10 mins north of Kaiaua. Is the launch spot before Whakatiwai? Couldnt find any navigational ch...

Re: cautionary tale

bad burn there....I would advise to gear up fully and leave no part of body exposed if fishing while sun is up...(1 hr pass sunrise up to 1 hr prior to sunset) NZ UV rays are pretty damaging basically radiation damage not too good over long term.....can get some compression leggings and dive boots s...

Re: Garage sale...

Do the Kayaks have rudder?
What do they come with? (Seat, paddle, storage bags?)

What short of price are you looking for?

Will be possible to drop by to check them out?
Thanks

Re: Fishings great but the economics suck.

Sure a lot of debate on this pricing, good to have an open discussion I suppose. US stuff is usually cheaper with economies of scale. The reload is still my 'dream' to own kayak. I really like the idea of the detachable centre pod, and also kid pod. I've got an old prowler 13 for 2 years now, its ok...

Maraetai 2 May morning.

After being skunked softbaits on my last trip (second time in season), I decided to give the season one more trip before calling it quits. Got to magazine bay at 6am and launched at 6.30am. Went out probably about 1 to 1.5kms to the 7-8 metre mark. There was no current or wind and so I was stationar...

Re: Narrow Neck - gear failure!

Sorry to hear.. thats actually something that I have thought about.... after 2 years of kayak fishing, I have decided to carry a second spare paddle just in case something happens to the first...I must say I'm a lot more safety conscious..still a few things to do PLB, flare.. as I usually go out by ...

casting direction

Hi everyone, I'm glad to say that I've had some success with the softbaiting and have converted to mostly softbaits for 90% of my fishing. Also its more fun, even though I got skunked a couple times. The fish are generally slightly bigger too. Still undecided on bright or dark colors for brighter or...

Fastest Kayak

Just wondering, which single fishing kayak do you think is the fastest in the Ocean Kayak and Viking range below? Prowler 13, 4.1, 4.5, 4.7, or Viking profish 400, 440, or reload? I've got a prowler 13 without a rudder and I'm getting a comfortable paddling speed of 6 to 6.5km/h. (wind around 7 knots)
