Re: Lowrance Hook 4
Guys, off topic, but I have one of these, used if for the first time and the sounder showed kahawai everywhere, but the chirp function showed absolutely nothing, was only in 10 metres Tried to reset to facttory defaults to see if that helped, but it didn’t, any suggestions as to why the chirp side d...

Reel service, wellington region
Anyone know of someone good who services reels, my anti reverse on my CI4 seems to have gone, was pulling in a decent snapper yesterday and it took off and the handle damn near broke my thumb spinning backwards :( had just been serviced by a friend which was great of him, but clearly something isn't...

Re: Sounder issues
The ticking is normal in my experience for those transducers The under-reading of depth .... how do you have the transducer mounted? thanks Mike, odd that I have never noticed it before now. The transducer is under the hull in the transducer recess ( I paddle a 440) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sounder issues
I have an Elite 4x, took it out today and it wouldn't read the depth correctly, said I was at 4.5 metres when I was close to 20, but the oddest part was I could hear it "ticking" as it pulses, did at 83 and 200khz. Took me a while to work out what it was so ended up turning it off I tried a factory ...

Re: How close is too close to fish with your mates?
I like to fish socially but prefer casting distance apart. Nothing worse than getting your lines crossed, especially if it's a descent fish and an avoidable threat. I'm the same, also carry a bungee for people to tie for a while, but close to enough to talk but not cross lines is better Sent from m...

Downscan vs chirp to replace Elite 4
Sorry, I know this has probably been asked a lot, but I have an elite 4 that works fine, but I really don't get enough detail except for kingi's. I am thinking of upgrading to a humminbird or lowrance with downscan. I fish over sand up to 40 metres max so spend a bit of time paddling looking for fis...

Summer paddling pants
Guys, any suggestion on long pants for summer paddling, would something like polyprops under shorts work from a sun protection point of view or something like these https://m.torpedo7.co.nz/products/3JPAMN5BP/title/columbia-2015-men-s-pfg-blood-n--guts-pants" onclick="window.open(this.href);return f...

Agree with the no fishing therefore no reports, it's been a pretty average winter, ie boat hasn't been in the water once [emoji35]

Re: PLB
Personally I rate PLB's as essential, especially with some of the paddling trips I do. I just want to throw a thought into this discussion regarding the really compact PLB's that are becoming available: I've had a look at many of them, and an opportunity to play with some of the demo units. While t...

I found them to be a big improvement over the standard Ctug wheels - still not as good as wheelez, but for the price difference I am a fan

Has anyone tried using the big game seats on a Viking 440 http://kayakbattleship.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. I love the 440, but dislocated my coccyx 18 months ago so can't do more than 3 hours without being in real discomfort, would rather try retrofit a seat than sell the 4...

Re: Sounder/GPS Clearance HumminBird save $$$
I was about to buy the Helix 5 DI (I have PM'd you Jason) as I like the display orientation but the above is tempting, any opinions on comparison between the 2? Also it doesn't look like the Humminbird have a quick release like the Lowrance elite 4 which is my current finder. Is that correct because...
