Re: Confused member

Hi Typhoon, Let me know if your not getting e-mails. I sent an e-mail to club members 31 Jan to confirm next club meeting of 13 Feb and then another on 15 Feb to confirm a weekend Coromandel trip for weekend of 3rd March. I had you on both these e-mails so maybe I have your address wrong?? I will pm...

Re: New Kayak Fisher

Hi Jason, Always good to hear from another keen yak fisher from Hamilton. I haven't posted planned trips on here for a while but will try to do so for future if you want to tag along, although my kayak fishing is probably once a month at best with time spent between family and other commitments. I a...

Manu Bay - Sunday 31st Jan

Sorry for the belated fishing report but we don't see too many reports from Manu Bay (Raglan) so thought I would get this in. Launched approx 8am, me on my single, my two young boys on the double and friend Phil on his yak who we met out there. We anchored up 300-400 meters from the boat ramp and ac...

Re: kahawai recipes

I question the need to bleed Kahawai??? I kept four from a trip last Friday, I bled two and didn't bleed the other two and I couldn't tell the difference when I filleted them or ate them. Maybe it doesn't matter so much if they are fresh or maybe my taste buds just aren't refined enough?? Having sai...

Re: Fishing trip - Orere point

Bit of a game of two halves yesterday. We were on the water 7am and headed for the farms and tied up without any action at all. I even tried sitting behind the mussel barge that was working and nothing. After the tide turned we started drifting north of the farms and started picking up fish. Current...

Re: Fishing trip - Orere point

Still looks like there is a good weather window Saturday morning before wind picks up in the afternoon, swellmap predicts 7-8 kt SW at 9am, building from there to 14 kts in the afternoon. I plan to be on the road between 5.30-6.0am. Will be on channel 8 for VHF. If you want to contact/text before ha...

Re: Fishing trip - Orere point

Guys, weather is looking pretty favourable for Saturday morning at this stage, unless it deteriorates I will be planning an early Saturday morning start. I'll update with a post tomorrow on updated forecast, times (I would like to be on the road no later than 6am), VHF channel etc.

Re: Fishing trip - Orere point

Guys, I have received no response/interest regarding this weekend. Forecast has deteriorated a bit and with potential showers (whats new!) I am minded to defer to our fall back date of next weekend and take the chance we get a better day, tide will probably suit better next week too. Cheers Smitty ...

Re: Fishing trip - Orere point

Hi Guys, We have this Saturday earmarked for a fishing day at Orere. Still a bit early to predict a weather forecast but currently forecasting Westerly 10-13 knots and a swell/chop of around 0.5 meters. So its not looking too bad but not great either. I'll update again on Wednesday night, in the mea...

Waikato Kayak Fishing Club - next club meeting - 31 August

Hi Everyone, Its been a while and with days starting to get noticeably longer we should have a club meeting to catch up and plan for spring/summer. This will be a good time to bring along any ideas or what you would like to see happen with the club – like any sports club, the more effort that goes i...

Re: Wilsons Bay this Saturday 6 May

Skunked today which I hate admitting. Fishing very slow. Bryce was on the water early and it paid off as he got a feed, early bird catches the worm!
