Re: Bixpys and Kayak Fishing Comps
Have to give credit ,
Hmm !. Best fishing award on this forum goes to KingiFiddler.. He throw's the bait out lets it sink for a bit ,we all rise to bait like some fish do then whamo.
I'm going back to my cave, his bait has gone off, not fresh anymore.

Re: Bixpys and Kayak Fishing Comps
Q: how heavy is a bixby and battery? supplementary Q: would a flooded kayak sink with a bixby and battery attached? Marc N, the bixpy with longer power cable attached to rudder is approx 2.6 kilos. Battery is 'approx' 3.2 kilos. So the answer is 'approx' again, 5.8 kilos in total. Have not done the...

Re: Bixpys and Kayak Fishing Comps
No longer shall i partake in Bixpyi foray, for I could speak all day and night you have plainly made up your mind on this issue /Bixpy. Yes I own one and very pleased I do. Not one of you have criticized pedal power non use of paddle. Nor sail, these two have a way longer range than battery power . ...

Re: Bixpys and Kayak Fishing Comps
No one is going to win this debate as there is too much emotion and vested interest wrapped up in it. And now that motorised kayaks are permitted its fait accompli. But I 100% believe that the inclusion of Bixpys creates an an unfair advantage. So the choice is to learn to live with it or simply no...

Re: Bixpys and Kayak Fishing Comps
Get your self in the poo and I bet, if a person with a Bixpy came along to help, you would accept. Just pray he has enough battery left in his E power to help with the paddle home/ If it worked you may well pony up for one your self.

Re: Bixpys and Kayak Fishing Comps
pretty sure the t&c's of the Northland Classic and Viking series exclude any motor powered kayaks... Except the one where boats are allowed as well... I see it as an unfair advantage, but understand the reasons why people use them for recreational safety etc... Under competition conditions, I t...

Re: Bixpys and Kayak Fishing Comps
Okay , Rabbit / Kingifiddler We are not all equal in body stature nor age. E bikes are the go for those that cannot pedal like they could as young whipper snappers. I own a bixpy but not for any advantage at all, to a point. With arthritis in my hands ,I find the Bixpy helps me out quite considerabl...

Re: trip report - AKL 5 August
Thanks for all the comments, it's re-assuring got know that I'm not nuts, in thinking that were it not for the cold, I'd be relatively OK swimming the yak to shore. The anchoring has given me pause for thought and now I'm thinking wetsuit. So here's a question, for all of you who may know, where ca...

Re: trip report - AKL 5 August
Shall not go too much into this. You at least realize the limitations of your clothing. Forget the anchor, Buy a drogue to slow your drift . Next time, if ever, you use an anchor again you only need to use the most minimal of material as a breakaway, definitely not 5lb mono, just a bit of light butc...

Re: So, who's getting the new plastic Stealth when they come out?
What happened to the Viking Reload in carbon? Would imagine a few have been sold, Andrew, cost would be the deciding factor, for most. We are only going fishing after all. For my money, ease of travel with stability, rod / gear holding capacity along with a place to store my catch when on the water...

Re: So, who's getting the new plastic Stealth when they come out?
So I shall be first. Not I . More than happy with my plastic, Viking Reload. 'Speed' is not my thing but fishing is. Reload coupled up with my Bixpy is all I need, great combination.

Re: Police harassment me new to kayaking hauraki gulf
I spent many hours of my youth fishing from the jetties at Westport, day and night we use to live across the road from port. Used to buy threepence worth of cats meat from butcher, caught many big eels and Kahawai. Cock a bullies galore off the slip way.

Re: Police harassment me new to kayaking hauraki gulf
It is difficult to understand what the conditions were from the way it is written but immediately one asks how much kayaking have you done? I can say I've had 70 years of ships and boats (dinghies, yachts and kayaks) so I'd expect my comments on conditions would be reasonably accurate. If someone h...

Was just thinking about calling it a day when something smashed softbait and something took off. Pulled some string and just as I was making ground knot to leader came undone! Gutted!
.
Need to work on those knots then.
