Re: KAS ... some assembly required
Progress has been slow but steady recently with the build having to make way for "life". The deck has been fixed to the hull and joined with fibreglass tape. This was followed with a few tedious hours of sanding, filling, sanding and a little more sanding. A little more sanding this week a...

Re: Surfcasting
That depends on your classification of "mid price" but since this seems like it would be occasional use only I would lean towards a Jarvis Walker, Penn or a Fin-Nor 14 foot combo for beach fishing and would consider coming down to 12 foot if the primary use would be rock or wharf fishing.

KAS ... some assembly required
Over the past week I have been busy filleting seams and putting glass and epoxy to the inside of the boat.
Deck has filleted and taped seams plus two full coats of epoxy. Hull has the same plus a layer of fibreglass cloth over the seating area.

Re: KAS ... some assembly required
This project is to build a couple of fun sit-in kayaks; a Wood Dock 12 for SWMBO :inlove: and a Wood Duckling 8 for the kids. The plans are courtesy of CLC Boats in the US but the elbow grease to turn the plans into reality is purely home grown :whew: . For more detail on these boats see http://www....

I love the honesty :y: good on you for admitting it, and best of luck in getting back out there. My kayak is on the heavy side also and I find the side loading extension bar a good and easy to use option. http://www.rhinorack.com.au/products/water/kayak-loaders/rhino-universal-side-loader_rusl"...
