Well done Wktoyakka and Celebre, excellent fish and effort to catch the fish. A lot of votes this month, big fish bring big crowds  hell even the ugly little stargazer nailed a couple of votes, thanks guys, will be keeping the next one for the table based on advice given :y:

Re: Snapped rod and reel playing up

Hey sk8e8, if you are looking for a new baitcast rod, I have a Shinano Backbone Elite one piece that has only been out once that I could let go for a reasonable price, reel included. I found I was two much of a gumby to operate the baitcast reel so never used it again. If you are interested PM me an...

Re: Rod Building

Hey hampster, I had the same idea and constructed a workbench for wrapping guides from plans found on the net. I have repaired a couple of eyes, not that pretty but getting better. I brought a heap of thread and parts from these guys - http://www.mudhole.com/ - in the US of A and they seem pretty ea...

Re: What time piece adorns your wrist?

I used to wear a G-Shock but have not done so for at least the last five years, it is now part of the kids toys ;) I think we surrounded by the ability to tell in almost everything we do and everywhere we go that the last thing I want to think about when I get a chance to go fishing is what the time...

Re: Which Chilly bin ?

I have the 150ltr Icey-Teks and can vouch for the awesomeness. Use it on 5 day camping trips with family and works a treat and keeps ice for that period. Got mine for half price from a bait and tackle shop as the guy only used ity over xmas to store surplus bait. Love it.

Hey Ants, the rate you painters charge to paint a house you should be able to afford one of those nice side imaging units like Mentals got, would fit right in there no hassles ;)

Re: Fish Finder convertion kit

Hi there Krej88. I have just upgraded from that same FF to a Garmin 400C and I could give you the transducer from that unit if you are missing one. It was the portable one but the problem I had was corrosion killing the battery compartment so I changed the rig to run on a 12v 7ah battery. I think I ...

Re: Internal transducer mounting

Hey Limitless, thanks for all that info :y: part of the reason why I love this forum. I will be leaving the transducer where she is at the moment and spend some time fishing and understanding the sign. Have only used the unit 4 times between warranty issues, so a lot to learn and what to look for. T...

Re: Internal transducer mounting

Awesome report Stephen, thanks for that :y: It does make one think. I have just finished a bracket for the back of my F&D to mount the transducer for my Garmin externally which, after testing this weekend, I was very happy with the readings. I am now concerned that rear mounted transducers distort t...

Re: Tranducer mounting on F&D - Take 3

Well had the first sea trial on the weekend at the Coro meetup and after finding out the battery was stuffed and Mental coming to my rescue with a couple of spares he had, the bracket worked a treat and seem to do it job well. The one issue I found and not sure if is an issue or is the same for ever...

Re: Weighing fish

I have a Berkley landing net which has scales inside the handle. I am hoping the springs get a bit looser, might managed to catch a fish bigger than 10 pounds  In all seriousness though, I have had them for around 18 months and they still seem quite solid, I just give then a good rinse and hit ...

Re: Tranducer mounting on F&D - Take 3

Now you tell me, after I just drilled 4 holes  Yeah that might do it. My second attempt at external mounting of the transducer followed the contour of the yak down below the water line, but the only problem I encountered in this process was when dragging it back on the beach the transducer drag...

Re: Which Way Up?

I have travelled with mine both ways over the last 4 years and I have not found any difference, apart from loading it. When I had a van, it was easier to load the right way up as I just pushed it up on the roof racks, stroped down tight and no movement or damaged and this included trips between Waih...
