Re: Spur of the moment to Tiritiri Island

Hi Coach, where can I find some details on the Rob Fort fishing social? I'm keen to try out a couple of comps, not because I have any chance of winning anything but just looks like a great way to meet like minded people. Really like the sound of a comp with a bigger sustainability focus.

Cheers

Re: Knots damaging guides?

Do you do a bimini twist to create the loop in the braid before the yucatan knot?

Re: Knots damaging guides?

Interesting, I think I will be moving away from the double uni then! Might have a crack at tying the FG and then if I do something silly out there can always retie with the albright. Cheers for the advice, always appreciated.

Knots damaging guides?

Hey team, back with yet another question. I have been getting into my soft baiting over the past few weeks (bit more successful than my spearfishing of late...). Yesterday I noticed that the last guide on my rod was damaged which ended up cutting the braid which was a pain in the backside... Anyway,...

Damage when tying kayak on roof?

Hey team, just have a query. Having recently bought a reload, I have been tying it top down on the roof of my car. Someone mentioned to me that the tie downs may cause an indentation in the hull and I should use cradles instead? Does anyone have any opinion on this? I don't use ratchet tie downs. an...

Re: New kayaker after OK Prowler Ultra 4.7 test paddle

Just to add to the discussion.... I’ve got a Reload (& an OK 4.3 !) and I use the front hatch to store broken down rods / reels , fish finder etc etc when I’m doing surf launches / re entries. It can be accessed from the seat as Grant as suggested by just straddling the yak... ie a leg over each si...

Re: New kayaker after OK Prowler Ultra 4.7 test paddle

Interesting to hear your opinion on that bro. Ended up calling Grant at viking, great guy with lots of sound advice. Definitely makes me want to go down the viking path... He said he's pretty comfortable accessing that front hatch on the water if he just swings his legs over the side. But you're rig...

Re: New kayaker after OK Prowler Ultra 4.7 test paddle

Will let you know @biggles! @tuaman, cheers for the info on the reload. They do look like an awesome yak, and it's interesting that there are a lot more of them floating around second hand than the 440's. Just a quick question, I can see that front hatch has plenty of storage room from Vikings promo...

Re: New kayaker after OK Prowler Ultra 4.7 test paddle

Cheers for the reply guys. Good to hear you both speak highly of the ocean kayaks. I would love to buy new and support local business but budget doesn't quite extend that far. Definitely think second hand of one of these brands over a cheap Chinese yak is the better decision though. With all the gea...

New kayaker after OK Prowler Ultra 4.7 test paddle

Hey guys, I’m new to the forum and looking at getting a kayak as a spearing platform with a bit of line fishing on the side. I have quite a few questions, if you can bear with me I would really appreciate some input. I’m keen to stick to the ocean kayaks or viking, as people only have good things to...

Re: Stealths

Hey man,

I'm pretty new to this forum, but I have been keeping an eye on trademe and facebook marketplace to pick up a yak for myself. There's a Stealth fisha 500 on FB marketplace if that fits the bill... Link below.
