If I had the money, I'd be beating a path to your door. But sadly, I'm working on enough shekels, for a new fish finder.

Kayak fishermen's car parking conundrum.

Because I'm a contrarian, I've noted a few things, about where I can park my car, when I roofrack my Kayak to the water. Here in the big smoke, it seems, you can't just park your car and go fishing, unless you have a boat trailer attached, or you park in a normal spot that's usually limited to 120 m...

AHB 16 Oct

Dawn - 3 rods with squid, one with a, disco lights in the eyes orange slider. I wish I could say I caught the fish on the disco lights in the eyes orange slider. But only one keeper, it was, about 7 little 'uns put back So a nice one anyway, 48 cm, with a touch of a bump on the head and a nice dark ...

Re: Kayak Fishfinder - GPS - Sounder Recommendations

And then at about double the price of the Striker Plus 7sv there's the Garmin echoMAP Chirp 75SV - which as far as I can see, is the same as the Striker Plus 7sv, but with navigation charts. I think if I had a boat that would go 20 km in a day, I'd get the echoMAp version, but for Kayaking, $600 ~ $...

Thanks Gents, coming from a traditional 'sit a squid bait on the bottom and wait', background, the tips you've offered will be very valuable :)

Re: Kayak Fishfinder - GPS - Sounder Recommendations

I had been going through the same process, I had my eyes on the Striker 4, managed to convince myself to spend the extra on 5 buuuuuuuuuttttttt now the 7 is looking the goer. Mainly for the wifi to my phone etc (gadget geek). Yes I'm a geek too, I've discovered that Garmin Active Captain website (G...

Re: waypoints, maps, laptop

Ahaa - break through. I cannot do this: send a route/waypoint from AquaMap app > Active Captain > Garmin FF I can do this: for a route/waypoint in AquaMap app share it with Active Captain App > Garmin FF Note: a single way point in AquaMap is a whole route, but with only one point in it. When it's s...

Re: waypoints, maps, laptop

Yes I'd be interested in this too. ----------------- For those who may be interested, I'm corresponding with the Dev at Aqua Maps, because they link to Active Captain, which is now 'Garmin' ActiveCaptain. So I thought it would be possible to make and transfer waypoints etc, to and from, Aqua Maps on...

How to read Side Scan/view fish finders

If like me, you're new to the whole, techo fish finder thing, maybe this will help, in regard to reading the side scan thing, in the fishfinder. I've been using an older Humminbird 535, which Mr Inky very kindly gave to me. Now I've been bitten by the ' new fish finder ' bug. When researching the ne...
