750 or 1500g Anchor
Hi Guys I have a 750g grapnel anchor, but I have lost the locking ring for it. So I find often that the anchor does not grip (and I end up drifting along), and when I pull it up, some of the forks have folded back in. I am in Wellington and I fish mainly in Makara, were there are mean currents. I wa...

Get yourself a stringer. A gull will struggle then to carry away your catch!

Beaut day at Makara
On the weekend I had such a good day at Makara. Sun shining and water calm. Went straight out to the 30m mark and on the first drop I pulled in a good trevalley of 44cm. Then later two snapper of similar size, then a good kahawai, then finally a blue cod. But what made the day so special for me was ...

Re: Anybody in Wellington with a Lowerance Elite 4
Thanks all for the help.
I have tested my FF (twice) and it still does not power up. Bugger! Anyway I am now looking to get a replacement ( with the same plug).

Anybody in Wellington with a Lowerance Elite 4
My FF has stopped powering up. While it could be the power supply, before I replace the connections I was hoping to test the unit. So is there anybody out there with the unit (it has one plug for the power and transducer cable). Apparently the Elite 4 is discontinued and none of the marine supply pl...

Wellington south coast. Tarakena bay
Hi all Yesterday I went on a long paddle to Boom rock and I think my next trip will be a bit closer. Swell map shows that tomorrow this wind will drop and the south coast looks like it could be good. I am looking to launch at the ramp at Tarekena bay. Any tips on where could be good and what could b...

Sharkskin vs Adrenalin
Hi all I am planning ahead for the Wellington winter and think I need some decent warm clothing. At present I use a wetsuit pants and booties, and a cheap jacket. I was looking at the Adrenalin top (you get one with a zip) and leggings. Each about $70 from Fergs. How do these compare to Sharkskin. I...

Hang kayak with pulley
Hi all Well I finally got a kayak - I wanted a Reload but ended up with a Viking Predator. It is a bit old but I am chuffed anyway. I am yet to take it out, and that is the plan for this weekend. I want to hang the kayak in my garage using a pulley system with a loop for the front and back end of th...
